Ophthalmology
Share

The ophthalmology elective introduces the student to the methods and skills used in the clinical diagnosis and therapy of patients with ophthalmological disorders. Students acquire competency in the techniques of ophthalmoscopy; they learn to evaluate common eye complaints and identify the conditions that require treatment by an ophthalmologist.

Students participate in rounds, attend teaching conferences, evaluate and treat (under supervision) minor ocular problems, and assist in ophthalmologic surgeries. Students also attend the residents' clinic, Patrick G. Murray Eye Center (Highland Park, Michigan).
